Reference: Spillman #982, illustrates the example at Corning which was accessioned in 1950 from the George S. McKearin collection, text pg. 250, "This large size is very rare." Lee/EAPG, pl. 59, illustrates a smaller example, text pg. 183, "The large covered compotes and the punch bowls are among the most interesting specimens of American glass, and are so gorgeous in appearance as to justify their being classed as veritable museum pieces." Innes, pg. 339, pl. 360, illustrates a smaller example which resides at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Notes: This is only the second example of this form that we have sold in 13 years. The only illustrated example of this, the largest size, punch bowl is the one shown by Spillman from the collection at Corning. While we would certainly expect that there are others in various collections, we may very well find out in the future that this mammoth grandaddy of Early American Glass is even rarer than we had previously thought Condition reportNear proof having only a minute nick on the edge of the foot caused by a straw mark, and a manufacturing flaw under the foot
