Fr. 686 $100 1902RS #1 It has been over a decade since we last offered this tremendous rarity. I'm sure there are several collectors focused on this lot and ready to pull out the big guns. The note is bright and well centered, and although it is obvious the note never circulated, it has picked up enough handling to force an AU grade. The bold signatures of George Brumder, President and A.G. Schultz, Cashier are a pleasant addition. This is one of only five serial #1 $100 Red Seals known on the entire country! The other four notes are firmly ensconced in major holdings, as I expect this Milwaukee note will be after the hammer falls. This #1 brought $34,100 ten years ago. That will be a mere down payment in today's far more sophisticated market. It is difficult to predict what this trophy will bring, but once the hammer falls, this generation of collectors will have seen their #1 $100 Red Seal come and go.
