PANELED FONT STAND LAMP, deep fiery opalescent, blown-molded inverted pyriform 12-panel font joined by a wafer to a pressed hexagonal base with a ringed standard, pewter collar and double-tube whale oil burner. New England. 1840-1850. 7 1/4" high to top of collar, 3 3/8" diameter base overall.
Reference: Parallels Spillman, fig. 899. Provenance: The Duff & Molly Allen Collection. Richard W. Withington, Inc., 7/16/96, lot #247 Condition reportAppearance is proof except for three minor flakes under the base, but close examination reveals what appears to be some adhesive material at the wafer indicating the font and base have been rejoined. Oddly enough there are no visible losses or cracks resulting from this apparent separation
