FREE-BLOWN FOOTED SUGAR BOWL WITH COVER, colorless with a slight gray cast, compressed globular form plain bowl with galleried rim and applied small sloping foot with polished pontil mark, fitted with a domed chain-decorated cover with folded rim and drawn button finial with ground pontil mark. Bowl and cover probably together by association. Cover attributed to Thomas Cains' South Boston Flint Glass Works or his Phoenix Glass Works, South Boston, MA . 1825-1840. 6" high overall, 5" diameter rim, 3" diameter foot, 4 5/8" diameter cover .
