Robert Yates (1738-1801) Politician and jurist. Yates was well known for his Anti-Federalist stances. Most scholars believe that he was the author of a series of sixteen articles written against the ratification of the United States Constitution under the pseudonym "Brutus". 7 ¼" x 4" document signed, Rensslaerwyck Manor, February 2, 1776. "…you are hereby commanded to summon John Smith to appear before me…at my dwelling house in the city of Albany to answer Henry Chambers in an action of trespass…." Age toned with three vertical folds.
