Colonial Jurist EDWARD SHIPPEN - Document Signed

Edward Shippen (1728-1806) Jurist. Shippen was a Tory during the Revolution but later rose to the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He was also the father-in-law of Benedict Arnold. 12 ¼" x 4" partially printed legal document signed, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, September 14, 1799. The document is a writ to charge Allen Gillespie. A steel engraving is included.
