Robert Treat Paine (1731–1841) Jurist. Paine gained recognition as a prosecuting attorney in the murder trial of the British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre. He was a member of the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. 3 ¾" x 6 ½" receipt for legal expenses, August 1869, signed "Paine." Double matted and framed with a brass identifying plaque to 8" x 13".
