France, ca. 1890, unmarked Jumeau bisque socket head incised 4, blue glass eyes, finely painted brows and lashes, open mouth with molded teeth, original blonde mohair wig, attached to a seated body with bisque arms holding a biscuit and a Fables book. Wearing original silk brocade dress and pink straw hat. Figure is seated on a rattan picnic basket with opening lid which reveals a brass musical clockwork mechanism. When operated the head moves right and left, and she alternately raises her biscuit and book. 16" H. Excellent
