This piece is shown in Raymond Slack's book on pg. 119. Information from that reference indicates that the diamond lozenge mark registered this design to John Derbyshire on September 11, 1874. This piece is vaseline / uranium glass and photos show it passes the blacklight test! This is an exremely desirable paperweight/desk figurine and was purchased from the Frank Chiazenza collection. Chiarenza is noted author of THE MILK GLASS BOOK. Very few of these are known to exist, and even less of those number are yellow vaseline glass and in excellent/mint condition. The only wear is honest surface scratches on the underside of the piece, where it makes contact with the surface.
