This is a lovely example of English Victorian threaded glass in the form of a traditional marmalade dish and original holder. Convention holds that most threaded glass of the period belonged to H.G. Richardson ca. 1881 - 1895, however, whereas wider and divergent pitched coils may be easy to identify as Richardson, the tight concentric threading on bowls of this type and size are more difficult to attribute. Our research indicates at least (4) major Stourbridge glasshouses indulged in this type of threading. Our attribution is based upon two factors, the first being that this deep 2/1 elliptical form with bottom knop was use by Stevens & Williams, and please observe the special raspberry dimpled pincered trail, that we have also identified as a Stevens signature. This marmalade is contained in a rare swivel handle stand, and glows brilliantly under black light. British Glass 1800-1914 / by Charles R.
