GIANT VICTORIAN STEVENS-WILLIAMS CASED CUSTARD BA

This mammoth Victorian cased glass basket is by one of England's finest, Stevens & Williams ca. 1880 - 1885. It is a traditional Uranium oxide rich custard glass, ergo it glows under black light. It sports diverse floral applique, a crimped & ruffled rim and amber glass feet, handle and edging. Many items in this form were produced in Boihemia, but the combination of the custard and the special large opalescent petals with subtle use of Cranberry, identifies this as Stevens. At over 12", this basket is a stunner, and came from the personal collection of well known Omaha auctioneer, Ms. Joella Cohen. There is some minor damage to the applied glass.
