This marvelous example of a fruit bowl, more commonly referred to today as a Brides Basket, is a rare example that has everything going for it! Seldom seen is the addition of 'overshot' style of manufacture combined with vaseline / uranium glass! The added bonus comes with the unheard-of complementary color of cobalt blue around the rim! We strongly believe that this was made by Harrach or one of their contemporaries from the Bohemian region, circa 1880-1900. Harrach was known to have made vaseline overshot glass in various pieces and shapes and a vaseline & cranberry berry bowl set is known to have been made by this glasshouse. The base of the bowl has a polished 'rough-ground' pontil, similar to what was done by Loetz during this same time period. There is one small nick to the rim of the bowl and the vintage silverplate frame has a broken handle. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
