This is a beautiful French ornate Cameo glass biscuit jar by the Cristalleries de St. Louis. Known more for a single thin layer of colored glass acid cut over a clear glass base, St. Louis and most items by Baccarat and Val St. Lambert were very delicate in nature, and precise in their thematic content, in deference to the extremely heavy opaque multi layered & deep cut examples of such companies as Emile Galle, and Daum Nancy. The light Cranberry florals on this jar give way to a lovely frosted honeycomb pattern, and the base is properly signed with an etched mark indicating manufacture after 1903. The paper label is an indication of production in the period 1920 - 1935.
