This 8"" 'CITRON' color Compote is believed to be shape #5066 from Gardner's book (pg. 173, near bottom of page) and was part of the personal collection of Tom Demitroff prior to the present owners. CITRON is the Steuben name for the color that is the bright yellow-green vaseline glass. The pair is unsigned, but verified by Demitroff as Steuben glass. Of the three yellow shades of glass that 'glow' under a blacklight (CITRON, BRISTOL and JADE YELLOW), the CITRON is the most desirable by collectors! This compote would sit nicely between the two CITRON candlesticks in auction lot #7105 ! There is no damage to this piece. FREDERICK CARDER AND STEUBEN GLASS by Tom Dimitroff, copyright 1998 by Rockwell Museum. THE GLASS OF FREDERICK CARDER by PAUL V. GARDNER, copyright 1971 by the Corning Museum of Glass. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
