This Victorian-era oil lamp (1880s-1900s) almost defies description due to all the bells and whistles! The body starts with cranberry opalescent, with added accents of vaseline vine and attached leaves, finished off with a pie-crust crimped foot! Look closely at the photo that shows the blacklight hitting the opalescent body of the cranberry portion. Please notice the green tinge. This is because this piece has a super thin layer of vaseline glass over the cranberry, and it is actually that vaseline glass layer that was then struck to the glory hole to show the opalescence on the upper portion of the glass. In the USA, this is the process that was used to make Rubina Verde Opalescent! This piece is a real show stopper and we can only describe it. We do not know which glass house made this, other than we believe it to be Bohemian. Bidders will only have to decide how high they want to go, not whether or not it is worth taking home, because this piece will catch the eyes before most all other lamps or vaseline glass items in a collection. This is a super-cross collectable. It will draw interest from lamp collectors, cranberry glass collectors, opalescent glass collectors, and vaseline glass collectors! Will your bid be the one to take it home! Bragging rights come pre-packaged with this beauty! We only noted slight residue staining on the inside. Please study the pictures carefully. No glass damage that we can detect. There is appropriate surface wear on the bottom side of the foot where it makes contact with the table. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
