We proudly offer this original 2001 Artist proof epergne by the hands of Richard Golding, the founder of England's the Okra Guild. Beginning in 1997, Golding intended to continue the finest traditions of hand blown art glass from ages past. In just over 10 years, Richard Golding and Okra Glass have become world renowned as well as an English national treasure. This hand blown epergne's design is in the best tradition of Tiffany or Steuben's dynamic pulled feathers, and was personally executed by Richard Golding in a stunning luster finish. There are only two of these treasures in existence!! Please see the owner's provenance below:1 OF ONLY 2 EPERGNES EVER CREATED BY MASTER GLASS ARTIST RICHARD GOLDING. RICHARD'S WORK IS ON DISPLAY AT THE BROADFIELD HOUSE GLASS MUSEUN IN THE WEST MIDLANDS, UK AS WELL AS THE CORNING MUSUEM OF GLASS, CORNING, NY. CREATED IN 2001, THIS EPERGNE WAS LOST FOR SEVERAL YEARS UNTIL WE DISCOVERED IT BY CHANCE AT A PORTOBELLO ROAD ANTIQUE SHOP. THE EPERGNE WAS STUCK AWAY IN A DARK AND UNACCESSIBLE CORNER UN-NOTICED FOR OVER 2 YEARS. SUBSEQUENT TO ITS ACQUSITION, THE EPERGNE WAS LOANED TO THE BROADFIELD HOUSE GLASS MUSEUM FOR A 1 YEAR SPECIAL TRIBUTE EXHIBITION TO THE ARTISTIC BRILLIANCE OF MASTER GLASS BLOWER RICHARD GOLDING. THE EPERGNE WAS THEN HAND CARRIED TO THE STATES AND HAS REMIANED IN THE OWNER'S PRIVATE COLLECTION UNTIL NOW. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
