When overshot glass is usually found, it is cranberry, fading to clear, with applied vaseline rigaree, flowers, trim, spirals, etc. Rarely does one find the base glass to be uranium glass and the applications also vaseline glass! This is a Bohemian piece, mold blown, with factory rough-ground top rim (as it came from the factory). The vase base color is more of a light mint green uranium glass and the applied flower and leaf are more traditional yellow vaseline glass. While the maker is not known (unsigned piece), Harrach was known to have made vaseline overshot glass. This is a different technique that 'crackle' glass, which is sometimes confused with overshot. Overshot is rolled in frit, then blown into the mold. Crackle is dipped into water, causing cracks in the glass, then the glass is reheated enough to make the glass stable, prior to blowing into the mold. -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
