This is a lovely and ornate cameo glass vase by Val Saint Lambert of Belgium. It differs from most of the heavy multi layered French cameos in that the intent is to present a portrait that appears more as hand decoration than sculpture. To this end, these pieces were only double layered glass, with the white being the base. The picture is made by barely cutting through the green surface glass leaving a soft and soothing finish. This beauty is likely ca. 1920 - 1930 and glows under black light.
