This is a lovely vintage Murano Burmese 5 1/2" creamer ca. 1960 - 1970. Often mistaken for the Rare Mt. Washington number 131 Peachblow and Burmese creamers, there are significant differences. The legitimate Mt. Washington pieces have smooth handles, but perhaps the most telling feature is that all have (7) separate rows of blown out thumb prints, with the initial one acting as the base seating rim. Mt. Washington was consistent in this style with the production of (7) row pickle castor inserts as well. This creamer has only (5) rows and a finished circular rim, plus an unfinished ground pontil, while several of the Mt. Washington's have been noted with a 15-ray sunburst pattern on the bases. Irrespective of its origin, it is a great Burmese piece that glows warmly under black light. Mt. Washington & Pairpoint Glass / by Kenneth M. Wilson; Mt. Washington Art Glass Plus Webb Burmese / by Betty B. Sisk; Peachblow Glass / by Sean & Johanna Billings -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection. Appraised for $800 - see photo.
