For the glass researcher, these two books are THE TOUGHEST two books to locate and you can own both of them in this auction! THE PEACOCK AND THE LIONS: THE STORY OF PRESSED GLASS OF THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND: A History & Manual for Collectors, By SHEILAGH MURRAY was copyrighted in 1982. It contains information about Sowerby, Davidson, Green & Co., Hepple, Moore, Hartley, Turnbull, Tyne Plate Glass Co., and others. 86 pg. Murray blazed the trail for all other glass researchers of English Pressed Glass. The second title is ENGLISH PRESSED GLASS: 1830-1900 by RAYMOND SLACK, copyright 1987. Slack's book starts where all others ended and writes what is considered the definitive text on the subject. Included in the back of the book is all of the registration numbers for the time period covered, dates of registration, and what company registered the design. The book came out in 1987, and was autographed and dated by Slack. There is also an additional inscription (personalized to consignors) and dated May, 2004. This reference book is backed up by Slack's premier glass research library, which is considered to be one of the most complete libraries on glass, only surpassed by the collection at the Rakow Library in Corning, NY. Both books are slightly used with minor wear to the dust jackets. Please do a search on any of the rare/out of print book sites on the internet, and you will soon discover the rarity and value of these two volumes! -- part of a collection of art glass to be sold live on eBayLiveAuctions on Oct 5th at 1pm, Andy & Rob Collection.
