Congressional imprint, 34pp, 6"x9", Washington, DC, 1880. His "Annual Message of the President of The United States, to the Two Houses of Congress..." Paper wraps. Signed at top front cover "With my compliments R. B. Hayes" in black ink. Light and slightly uneven yet remains entirely legible. In his last Message to Congress, Hayes discusses the "silver question," unrest in South America, enlarging the Navy, education of the Indians, and his hope that the government would "eradicate" the "evils" and polygamy in Utah, a direct reference to the influence of Mormonism in that state. Single vertical fold; light toning to wraps, especially to back; small paper loss to spine; else VG. Rare in this form. Est: $450-750
