This baseball is believed to have been signed in 1930 (and so marked) by the legendary players whose names appear on it and given to Lamar Puett, a prominent General Motors executive and avid baseball fan at that time. It has remained in the Puett family's possession until now. In addition to Babe Ruth's and Lou Gehrig's signatures, the ball contains the signatures of Pie Traynor, Earl Clark, Rabbit Maranville, Lance Richbourg, Walter Berger, Ira Flagstead and one additional player. Babe Ruth's name appears on the sweet spot while Lou Gehrig's name is in a clear area separate from all other signatures. Blue and red stitching. Although the ball's surface has rubbed in clay and hence appears dirty, the Ruth and Gehrig signatures are strong and easily read.
