Author: Tarkington, Booth Description: Illustrated with six plates, tissue guards. Original green flexible cloth, lettered in gilt, stamped in green and red, yapp edges, pictorial endpapers. Second Edition (so stated).With an original ink and pencil drawing, signed by Tarkington, on verso of frontispiece. Typed 27-line dedication to Haute Tarkington Jameson, the author's sister, laid in; the printed dedication in the book states: "To H.T.J. [from] B.T. Printed calling card of Mrs. John S. Tarkington, the author's mother, with her Indianapolis address, mounted on front free endpaper. Pencil inscription on verso of illustration list: "To Mrs. William Bourn with love from Elizabeth B. Tarkington." Bookplate of Filoli on front pastedown, with signature of [Mrs William] A. Bourn on front free endpaper.
