Title: From the Earth to the Moon - Direct in Ninety-Seven Hours and Twenty Minutes: and a Trip Round It
Author: Jules Verne Publisher: William L. Allison, Publisher Printing Year: No date provided Condition/Details: Bound in dark cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce early American edition of this work of science fiction, originally published in 1865 and that has served as an inspiration for both H. G. Wells's "The First Men in the Moon" (1901), and the first science fiction film, "A Trip to the Moon" (1902), by Georges Melies. The work is not illustrated although title page and both contents pages (book is divided into two parts with separate pagination) make allusion to illustrations; it is unclear whether illustrations were ever included in this edition. The volume shows light external age/wear. Title page is detaching at the bottom; text block is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 5.25" x 7.5" and contains 125/151 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
