Title: A Story of the Sinnamahone
Author: George William Huntley, Jr. Publisher: Williamsport Printing and Binding Co. (Williamsport, PA) Printing Year: 1936 Condition/Details: Bound in dark blue cloth with gilt embossing, this vintage volume is a scarce history of the spar industry that existed along the Sinnamahoning River in Pennsylvania. The author conducted interviews with "over one hundred fifty old people" to produce an oral history of the industry and region. The overall sense this work possesses may be gathered from his dedication of this work to the Boy Scouts of America, "that they may acquire from rugged individuals of yesterday some inspiration and character which will enable them to become sturdy Men Scouts of tomorrow." The work is illustrated with many plates (a plate from another book entitled "Hunter's Camp on Meadow Mountain" has been laid in). Previous owner's bookplate has been attached to front endpaper. The volume shows significant external age/wear, and textblock is intact with bright pages. The book measures approximately 6" x 8.5" and contains 500 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
