Title: Saville
Author: David Storey Publisher: Jonathan Cape Printing Year: 1976 Inscribed first edition Condition/Details: Bound in green cloth with bright gilt embossing to spine, this volume is a scarce signed copy of the English author's Booker Prize-winning novel. The dustjacket text introduces that novel as follows: "Against the background of war, of an industrialised countryside, of town and coalmine and village, Collin Saville grows up to be shaped not merely by the spiritual and social ambitions of his strakly contrasted parents - the mother slow, long-suffering and deep-feeling, the father mercurial, outward-going and violently charged - but by the character, richly observed and idiosyncratic, of the mining community itself." The title page bears the inscription : "With very best wishes, / David Storey" The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Dustjacket is in glassine cover. The book measures approximately 5.75" x 8.75" and contains 506 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
