Title: Arles et l'abbaye de Montmajour
Author: Jeanne de Flandreysy & Etienne Mellier Publisher: F. Detaille, Editeur d'Art (Marseille) Printing Year: 1922 Limited edition Condition/Details: Bound in half cloth with marble boards, this antique volume is a scarce first installment of a series of books, entitled "Iconographie Provencale", dedicated to presenting a photographic documentation of the historical and cultural sites of Provence, a region of southeastern France on the Mediterranean. Arles, the subject of this particular volume, is an ancient city on the Rhone, rich in ties to medieval history and culture. Interestingly enough, Arles is also the site of both a photography festival and the national school of photography. Preface by Joseph Anglade. The work is illustrated with 527 plates. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 10.25" x 12.5" and contains pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $9.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
