(42 x 33 x 9.5in) Detailed wooden model of a Chinese junk. The design of the sails make this ship easy to sail and fast. As opposed to an occidental square rigged ship, the junk can sail into the wind by adjusting the sails along the length of the ship. This detailed model includes horizontal members ("battensin) across the sails, providing reinforcement and shape, and mitigating tears. Junks were designed to carry up to five sails. This model is a 3-masted ship. The model also has an anchor chain affixed to the working windlass. These ships were typically used for cargo transportation and exploration. Some faults, but overall in very good condition. This item requires professional packing and shipping or pickup by buyer.
