Description: xii, 110 pp. 94 engravings on 58 plates including 7 double-page; engraved vignette on title; 3 vignettes; engraved pictorial initials. (Folio) 18¾x14½, period full mottled Roman calf, richly gilt with floral centerpiece, lattice-work rococo corner pieces, Greek-key and floral borders, spine heavily gilt with title and lotus blossom ornaments, raised bands, all edges gilt. Second Latin Edition.Second Latin edition (first 1738, after the 1706 Italian edition). A collaborative effort by Bellori and de la Chausse (text) and Bartoli (engravings). An important source for antique Roman wall and ceiling decorations and a striking example of 18th century Roman book binding. Brunet I, 758-9.

Condition report

Some rubbing to extremities; small stain in lower margin of a few plates at rear, overall plates very clean and with strong impressions; some foxing to text; else very good.
