Circa 1930 University of Michigan Football Game Worn Jersey. One of the most intriguing college football jerseys we've ever encountered, the presented Wolverines representation is a marvel of Depression-era engineering. Though tremendously desirable for its apparent use during Michigan's undefeated 1930 season, as it matches that year's team photograph exactly, perhaps even greater interest comes from the bizarre configuration of hybrid materials unlike any we've seen from the era. The jersey comes from the estate of Francis Cornwell, a guard who helped lead the team to the top of the Big Ten rankings. The body is constructed of a lightweight nylon/cotton blend, almost like sail cloth, with shoulders, side panels and tops/bottoms of sleeves gaining elasticity through the use of a wool/nylon blend. The sleeves sport embedded elbow supports, the padding still remarkably intact. Cornwell's number "28" is applied in differing sizes, fonts, colors and materials to front and back, yet another intriguing oddity. The buttoned crotchpiece remains intact, and holds an embroidered swatch reading "Cornwell 42" beside the "Flo-Fabric" label. Terrific condition, with only a few scattered moth holes, nothing that diminishes the aesthetics in the slightest. A print-out of the team photo located on the Internet, picturing Cornwell in what is almost certainly this exact jersey, will be provided with the lot. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.

On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids.
