Description
Chinese gilt bronze embellished jade figure of Guanyin, Qing dynasty, wearing long flowing robes and seated on a rocky plinth in a pose of royal ease, the left hand holding a ruyi scepter beneath the serene visage with crisply defined features, the base bearing the inscription 'Kangxi wushiliu nian, di zi Hua Yan gong feng' (=Kangxi 56th year (=1717), humbly offered by disciple Hua Yan), the translucent pale green stone with light inclusions and partially covered with a thin gilt bronze coating (wear), together with a floriform-edged zitan wood stand, figure 4.75''h, Provenance: Estate of Diana Engstrom, Northern California and Sweden.
