Description
(lot of 2) Chinese soapstone seals, the first of rectangular shape tapering towards the top and carved in shallow relief with blossoming lotus in moonlight, bearing the incised inscription 'Ku Chan zuo' (= by Kuchan [possibly Li Kuchan 1898-1983]), the stone of mottled red color; the second a rectangular slab with a rounded top, one face with a long poetic inscription possibly signed 'Xue Diying' and dated bingxu (=1946), the tan matix with white inclusions and flecked with dark brown, 2.825'' and 4.375''h Provenance: Estate of Diana Engstrom, Northern California and Sweden.
