Pennsylvania painted pine dower chest dated 1788, inscribed ''Diese Kist Gehert Mir Abraham Brubacher 1788/J.F. April den 22'', with center pinwheel flanked by parrots and horses on dark green ground, 22 1/4'' h., 48 1/4'' w. Illustrated in Fabian, The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest, fig. 135, where it is attributed to the workshop of Johann Flory of Lancaster County.
Condition reportLacking side and top of till. Lacking lock. Small patch above escutcheon. Three side foot facings replaced. One side of base molding replaced.
