Miniature painted dower chest, probably Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, ca. 1800, the lid and front decoration with ivory panels and large floral sprays emanating from urns within a red border on a green sponge ground supported by ochre sponge decorated bracket feet, 15'' h., 23'' w. Two similarly decorated chests are illustrated in Fabian, The Pennsylvania German Decorated Chest, fig. 150 and 151.
Condition report
Small cracks in lid molding. Small breakout at lock.
