Hornung (E. W., author of the "Raffles" stories, brother-in-law of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1866-1921) 4 Autograph Letters signed "EWH" & 1 Postcard signed "W" to Miriam Milbourne,13pp. (1 letter in pencil), 8vo, Partridge Green, Sussex, Paris & n.p., 4th October 1920 - 6th March 1921, reporting on the illness of his wife Connie [Conan Doyle's sister], "Connie went to see her doctor when in town last week: and she is to have another operation - next Monday... her doctor has told her it won't be nearly such a severe business as it was in 1916", losing his latest work, "it was discovered with horror & perspiration that I had left my precious despatch case (with all my MSS, & those laboriously-mounted details about 'Diggers' etc) calmly sitting on the seat at P.G. station", appreciation of a meal, "worthy of Belloc" and in light hearted vein about a troublesome animal, "we both feel that your only hope, chance, plot or plan, is to waylay & tackle the boys themselves about Mooi - you can't put it across the Nuns... but I rather love to think of them going hell-for-leather downhill with their veils flowing in the breeze... .
