Hull written in purple ink and dated "Jan. 3rd 1878" on half-title, illustrations, 32 pp. publisher's catalogue at rear, corner of title torn away, corner of rear endpaper repaired, ownership inscriptions on front free endpaper, original blue pictorial cloth, gilt, g.e., rebacked preserving original spine, extremities a little rubbed, spine slightly soiled, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, 8vo, [1877].***Charles Hull was one of four Hull children befriended by Dodgson in 1877. As this book was given to a child Dodgson signed the inscription "Lewis Carroll" rather than his given name. The subsequent ownership inscriptions on the front free endpaper indicate that this book was passed down among members of the same family..
