***Charles Hull was one of four Hull children befriended by Dodgson in 1877. As this book was given to a child Dodgson signed the inscription "Lewis Carroll" rather than his given name. The subsequent ownership inscriptions on the front free endpaper indicate that this book was passed down among members of the same family..
