Blunden (Edmund) De Bello Germanico, a Fragment of Trench History,
first edition, one of 275 copies, signed and inscribed by the author to "Martin Booth a reward for diligence and insight in his explorings of such old affairs as were sketched in this book from Edmund Blunden. Long Melford, 7 March 1965" on front free endpaper, with name "George Doogan" supplied in ink by Blunden in margin of p.7 where text refers to "D_" and note in pencil by map on p.12 "I have the printing block for this...", endpapers lightly foxed, original printed boards, rubbed, paper label on spine a little chipped, 8vo, Hawstead, 1930; together with the original printing block of the map(2)

***Martin Booth (1944-2004), British novelist, poet and travel writer, brought up mainly in Hong Kong. Many of his books concerned the British colonial past in the Far East. He also established the Sceptre Press which produced pamphlets on a variety of poets. As a young man he met Edmund Blunden who, as is clear from the inscriptions in the books, became his mentor and friend..
