23: Ute Indian Mother Infant Son Chamberlain Denver
CDV by W. G. Chamberlain, Denver. The child's face is clear. His tiny penis is seen in the hole in the leather of the "urine shield" that keeps the cradle clean. Something is written in block letters within the image that seems to read "NAION'S [the mother's name?] PET" Elaborate imprint with advertising on the verso, with "Ute Squaw and Papoose" in pen. The top and bottom of the mount have been neatly trimmed.
