Cy Twombly (American, b. 1928) Untitled, 1964, graphite, gouache and pastel on paper, 12 x 16-3/4 inches (sheet), float mounted on rag board under Plexiglas in a contemporary wood frame. Provenance: Heiner Friedrich and Franz Dahlem acquired this work directly from the artist in 1964 when Mr. Twombly exhibited his work at Galerie Friedrich & Dahlem, Munich. Cy Twombly created this drawing and two additional drawings on paper that was available at Friedrich and Dahlem's gallery. Franz Dahlem sold this drawing in the mid 1980s to Karsten Greve. It was purchased by the current owner from Karsten Greve.

Float mounted to rag board under Plexiglas; the sheet is discolored overall with areas of staining where the pigment has bled into the paper; there are two areas of paper loss along left edge believed to be original to the work; there are three tears along lower edge ranging in size from ¼ inch to 1¼ inches also believed to be original to the work.
