This is the first edition of the expanded volume of short stories and essays that was originally published in 1930. Porter spent the ten years prior to this traveling between Mexico and New York City. Her stories vary in background from the U.S. south to New York City and Berlin. This book of short stories assured her place in American Literature. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages.
