Condition/Details: Bound in quarter cloth with bright gilt embossing, this volume is a scarce signed copy of the author's second novel, winner of the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. It is the recollection of Phillip Carver, a middle-aged editor from New York City, who is summoned back to Memphis by his two conniving unmarried sisters to help them prevent the marriage of their elderly father to a younger woman. The author has written an inscription on the front endpaper that reads: "For Marshall (?) With affection Peter 11/2/86 (Count on seeing you in (illegible word) this winter)." The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Dustjacket is in glassine cover. The book measures approximately 6" x 8.75" and contains 209 pages.
