Yonge HEIR OF REDCLYFFE 1871 Oxford Movement
Author: Charlotte M. Yonge
Publisher: Appleton and Company
Printing Year: 1871
Condition/Details: Bound in blindstamped green cloth with bright gilt embossing to spine, this antique volume is a scarce edition in two volumes of one of the most successful novels of the nineteenth century. It is an allegorical tale of Sir Guy Morville, an idealized hero whose narrative allows the author to articulate a body of ideas that reflect the values and concerns of Anglo-Catholicism that went by the name of the "Oxford Movement". The first volume is illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece depicting a scene entitled "a twilight talk". The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 5.25" x 7.5" and contains 314/312 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
