Title: Works of James O'Connor, the Deaf Poet, with a Sketch of the Author
Author: James O'Connor Publisher: N. Tibbals & Sons Printing Year: 1879 First edition Condition/Details: Bound in green cloth with bright black and gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce original edition of the lyrical production of a non-professional writer, who in the preface states: "Laboring under my present physical disabilities, but few persons would be foolhardy enough to make even the slightest pretensions to authorship. My hearing began to fail me before I had acquired the first rudiments of an education, and for some time past I have been entirely deaf. The little education I have acquired with great difficulty and, for that reason, the offence should be all the more pardonable, if its value should appear to be over-estimated by its possessor." The work is illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of the author. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with age-toned pages. This book measures approximately 6" x 8.5" and contains 310 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
