Condition/Details: Bound in gray boards with green cloth backed spine with bright gilt embossing, this volume is the first novel by the Chinese-American author. Many of her novels have explore mother-daughter relationships and their conflicts. Tan adapted her novel into a screenplay for the 1993 American film with Ronald Blass. The book was nominated for a National Book Award, although both the book and film have been criticized for promoting stereotypes. The volume is bookstore new in its brodart covered dustjacket, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 9" x 6.25" and contains 288 pages.
