Condition/Details: Bound in maroon cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a rare copy of this Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, having both the original dustjacket and an inscription by the author that reads: "For Alvan Barach - my favorite character in fiction. Edna Ferber. New York Oct. 4 1931" This inscription appears on two cards that have been pasted to front endpaper (the last line is on a smaller card immediately below the larger portion). The volume shows very light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with age-toned pages. The book measures approximately 4.25" x 6.75" and contains 242 pages.
