This auction lot includes the following group of vintage titles by/on European authors whose work was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature:

- The Great Galeoto Folly or Saintliness : Two Plays Done From the Verse by Jose Echegaray - No date provided by John Lane (London) - Leading Spanish dramatist of the 19th century, Echegaray was chosen together with French writer F. Mistral to share the 1904 Nobel Prize. This title is considered his most famous play.
- Proust's Way by Francois Mauriac - Dated 1950 by Philosophical Library - Mauriac was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1952. This book comes in a glassine-covered dustjacket
- This Peace by Thomas Mann - Dated 1938 by Alfred A Knopf - The exiled German novelist, recipient of the 1929 Nobel Prize, wrote this polemical address to Western audiences in the aftermath of, and in response to, Hitler and Chamberlain's Munich pact. First edition in glassine-covered dustjacket
- Notes on Andre Gide by Roger Martin du Gard - Dated 1953 by Andre Deutsch - Du Gard was awarded the Nobel in 1937, Gide received it ten years later. Book comes in original dustjacket
