Condition/Details: Bound in maroon embossed cloth with fancy gilt-decorated spine, this antique volume is a story of childhood on the shores of Georgia; near the Sapelo river and Sapelo Island, commonly called Sapelo Main, or Blaisden's Bluff. The author was an ordained Presbyterian minister who wrote several children's books but was most well-known for "Marooner's Island". He started a school for boys in Kingston, GA before serving as a Chaplain for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with age-toned pages. The book measures approximately 6.5" x 4.5" and contains 160 pages.
