This auction lot includes the following group of award-winning literary titles that have been adapted into film. All these books are signed by the author and come in glassine-protected covers:
- A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley - Dated 1991 by Alfred A. Knopf - Stated first edition. Awarded Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1992 and adapted into a film of the same name in 1997.
- The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Love by Oscar Hijuelos - Dated 1989 by Hamish Hamilton (London) - Hijuelos was the first Hispanic author to win the Pulitzer Prize. The film adaptation, "The Mambo Kings", came out in 1992.
- Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil: A Savannah Story by John Berendt - Dated 1994 by Random House - Adapted into film in 1997.
- The Hours by Michael Cunningham - Dated 1998 by Farrar Straus Giroux - Stated first edition. This title received both the 1999 Pulitzer and the Pen/Faulkner Award. It became a Oscar-winning movie in 2002.
- The Lovely Bones: A Novel by Alice Sebold - Dated 2002 by Little, Brown and Company - First printing. Film adaptation of this novel is currently in production.
