Title: Frolic Wind
Author: Richard Oke Publisher: Payson & Clarke Ltd Printing Year: 1930 First U. S. printing Condition/Details: Bound in blue cloth with red lettering to spine, this antique volume is a scarce novel by British author Nigel Stansbury Millet, who wrote under the pseudonym Richard Oke. A work of "pagan and sophisticated beauty", the plot of this novel is presented in the dustjacket in the following manner: "Lady Cleone, inveterate card sharper, and her three tyrannic sisters lived with the peacocks at Pagnell Bois. The peacocks reflected with calm and dignity the glories of the estate, which was just and fitting. As for the Ladies Athaliah, Cleone; Bernice, and Damaris (whose combined age was 315) ... they undoubtedly stood for the immortality and perversity of mankind. Their head-hunting forays, which stretched back over innumerable weekends, were famous and almost always successful. From the "almost" hangs this tale, which for brilliancy and originality surpasses any novel of the times." The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Intact pictorial dustjacket is in glassine cover. The book measures approximately 5.25" x 7.5" and contains 263 pages.
