Condition/Details: Bound in red cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce collection of 41 tales, including such well-known titles as "Jack and the Beanstalk", "The Three Little Pigs", and "The Old Woman and Her Pig" . The work is illustrated with 16 full-page color plates and 41 black and white vignettes by Rackham, the prolific book illustrator, best known for his elaborate illustrations of children's literature and fairy tales. The volume shows light external age/wear, with sunned, slightly soiled spine, and bright lettering and decorations to front cover. Hinges are cracked, with Rackham's pictorial endpapers still well-preserved. Pages are clean and bright. This book lacks pages 61-64, affecting the tale "The Three Feathers" only.
